Brow Dye Vs Brow Tint

Which one is right for you?

Let’s face it, we all want to spend less time in front of the mirror in the mornings but still want to look polished.
Beautifully styled brows play a key role in achieving that look even when wearing minimal or no makeup but we don’t always have that extra time and patience to fill our brows with our favourite powder or pencil. Finding the right brow service is crucial.

For those who want to enhance their natural brows or fill in sparse areas, brow tinting has been a go-to process for many. If you’ve been in the salon you have no doubt heard us talking about brow dye. Brow dye is a newer and more effective alternative that has gained popularity recently.

Let’s talk differences between brow dye and brow tint and why dye might be just the thing you need to achieve the perfect, low maintenance brow.

Brow Dye

  • Long-lasting: Brow dye can last for several weeks, which means less fading between appointments.

  • Enhances brow colour: If you have light or dull eyebrows, brow dye can add depth, richness, and definition to your natural brow colour.

  • Skin stain: Brow dye will leave a stain behind on your skin for up to 7 days (which is why precision application is so important), great for filling any gaps in your brows and making them look more full or dense. This stain depends on the colour chosen to suit you and your skin type; it can be done for a very soft, natural effect, a more defined result or anywhere in-between.

  • Customisable: Brow dye comes in different shades which can be mixed, allowing you to create custom shades that best fit your hair and skin colour and desired outcome.

  • Covers grey hairs effectively.

Brow Tint

  • Short-Lasting Results: Brow tint gradually fades over two to four weeks. Many people choose to tint them a little too dark to begin with to get a bit more time out of them. Light colours don’t last as long.

  • Customisable: Your brow stylist can choose from a wide range of shades and blend to suit your natural hair and skin colour.

  • Limited Staining effect: Brow tint if used in a darker colour leaves a temporary skin stain that can only last 1-2 days and will not help you shape your brows. It won’t leave you with a clean defined shape like dye will.

  • More frequent visits are required to maintain colour.

  • Doesn’t cover all grey hairs.

Here at Miss Luxe, we love a brow dye for its longevity, gap filling and precision as well as the ability to dye brows the perfect colour from day 1 (no more waiting for them to fade to the right colour). If you haven’t previously had your brows coloured and you’re feeling a bit nervous, a tint is a good starting point as they won’t last as long. When you realise how much you love them you can level up to a brow dye!
